Traveling yogis have no fear – this studio is worth your time! The classes are awesome and the instructors are fabulous! There is a mix of local regulars and people on vacation, but the instructors don’t mind and present modifications and encouragement for all. If you are not an experienced practitioner you won’t be intimidated at all – all levels attend the classes. The studio is very simple and clean, with plenty of windows and doors that are open to the outside with curtains gently blowing in the breeze. Several paddle fans keep the air circulating and give the studio a feeling of peace and tranquility. There are at least two classes every day and as many as 6 on some days – plenty of options. They have mats you can rent for $1/use that are in good condition and smell as clean as could be – in fact all of the props are well cared-for.  Why don’t you leave your shoes at the doorstep and give Island Spirit a try!

What are the classes?

They offer over 25 classes seven days a week, with qualified instructors who teach from the heart with compassion and knowledge. Classes combine ancient Eastern traditions with contemporary intelligence. They have classes to suit all levels and abilities. You can check out their schedule online at IslandSpiritYoga.com or give them a call at 808-667-2111. They offer nine different types of yoga including Expansion with Grace, Flow Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Yoga Basics, NIA: A sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts, Anusara Yoga Level 1&2, Somatic Yoga and Prenatal Yoga (a nice variety). Their mantra “Island Spirit Yoga Maui was created to offer a West Maui sanctuary where locals and visitors could connect in cultivating physical and spiritual well-being. Our belief is that you can renew the body, mind and spirit in rhythm with the healing energy of Maui”.
