Conservation at its best!

The Hawaii Ocean Project (HOP) is the conservation division of the Lahaina Cruise Company. They proudly support genuine research and their researchers, host eco-friendly events, and have trained naturalists who share insight into the marine environment on board every one of their cruises. Their mission is “to educate visitors and the island community about Hawaii’s marine life, ecosystem and endangered species while delivering a visually unique and memorable ocean excursion.”  Hawaii Ocean Project hosts whale watches and many other excursions aboard the Island Princess, the Maui Princess, the Molokai Princess and the Kaulana. Their vessels are large, stable, and comfortable and offer the best viewing available. You can experience the thrill of whale watching on one of  their educational and informative 2-hour whale watch cruises. This adventure is great fun for the entire family and offers spectacular sightseeing and photo opportunities and they  GUARANTEE whale sightings on every cruise!

What is Research Direct?

Research Direct is a program that promotes voluntary contributions for genuine research. Hawaii Ocean Project has been an avid supporter of whale research and education since 1988 and has worked closely with, and contributed financially, to many local and mainland researchers. They’ve made donations of money and resources to many projects. Some of the agencies they have supported in the past are:  Whale Aid, University of Hawaii – Oahu, Center for Whale Studies – Maui, Hawaii Whale Research Foundation – Maui and Sal Cerchio – Kauai Humpback Project. They also state that, “100% of all Hawaii Ocean Project Research Direct funds collected will support genuine research.  There are no Hawaii Ocean Project director salaries. There are no Hawaii Ocean Project administrative fees. Plus, 100% of all Hawaii Ocean Project gift shop profits will go to the Research Direct Program.” Check them out online at HawaiiOceanProject.comor call for more information 808-667-6165.
